other documents. In the Salt Lake library they have 3 brand new book scanners available for anyone to use
free of charge. They do a great job and are very easy to use and do not require
you to cut the binding of the diary. The PDF scan can be saved directly to a USB
drive."
The above is a quote from the LDS Church on February 9, 2013. The good news for us is that there is one of these machines at the regional FHC in Sacramento. The book to be scanned must be genealogy related, and you will be asked if you give your permission to have the scanned book become part of the Church collection.
This is a wonderful opportunity. I (Ann) have several genealogy books that relatives have spent many hours (even days, weeks, months, and years compiling.) This is an opportunity to get these into the hands of my children and grandchildren.
